Introduction of Each Floor

Underground: this floor is of the reading-room of preserving books. Only one book selected from every kind is saved, which can be read but can’t be taken out.

The First Floor: this floor is of common search section, reading section of newspapers and periodicals, readers’ service section. Common search includes bibliotheca for manual searching and computers used for mechanical searching. There are social scientific periodicals such as general science, art, life, gym and law, and all kinds of newspaper. There are present print newspaper, past ones in reading section of newspapers and periodicals. Periodicals have 386 kinds and newspapers have 82 kinds. Readers’ service section offers foods, drink and rest-place.

The Second Floor: general circulation desk, tutorship and editorial branch, catalogue branch, collection branch and reading-room of Chinese books are on this floor. There are about 80,000 Chinese books, collecting books with call number from N to Z, and new Chinese scientific books bought in that year. General circulation desk takes charge of books for borrowing and returning.

The Third Floor: there are Curator room, Curator office, Reading-room for teachers, and reading-section of Chinese scientific and technical periodicals and Chinese social scientific books on this floor. Chinese scientific and technical periodicals include more than 700 Chinese present and past scientific periodicals, about 20,000 Chinese books with call number before N (except for novels) and Chinese social scientific books bought in that year.

The Forth Floor: there are reading sections of foreign literatures and foreign original editions, and copying-room on this floor. The total collection of books and periodicals are 40981 volumes.

The Fifth Floor: this floor has literature classroom, reference consulting branch, section for searching periodicals, reference books and dissertations, and electric literature processing room. Searching periodicals include 15,000 bound editions of Chinese and foreign scientific search periodicals, such as CA, EI, Derwent Innovation Index, Japanese scientific reference letter, Russian CA. About 12,000 foreign and Chinese reference books are in literature searching room to be convenient to readers, which had been put in reference reading-room before. In addition, there are dissertations of our doctors and masters (1981-present).

The Sixth Floor: there are CD searching room, Multimedia reading-room, library’s network center. Electronic reading-room is a new reading section, where readers can inquire literature database in our campus-net, such as CNKI, Elsevier Online (full-text) database, CA, VIP, and lots of information in Chinese and foreign web. All kinds of CD ordered by our room.
