Chinese Language Program

Since the beginning of 1990’s, the College of International Culture and Communication of Beijing University of Chemical Technology began recruiting students who wanted to learn Chinese, and 3000 international students had been trained up to now. For Chinese learning, we have long term advanced study class, short term advanced study class, accelerated class and vacation class. Every term Chinese classes of various levels are opened to meet the study demand of international students with different Chinese foundation. Because of abundant and competent teachers and reasonable teaching arrangement, we are able to train numerous talents of Chinese; the colorful leisure time life, beautiful campus, convenient traffic conditions and very advantageous geographical location make the international students feel a cheerful and pleasant life. Long-Term Chinese Language Program

It is a non-degree study program focusing on Chinese language and Chinese culture. The duration of the program is one academic year, but a student can choose whether to come for one semester or two semesters or more.

a. Timetable: The courses will be given from Monday to Friday, totally about 20 class hours per week.

b. Class Levels: The University offers three level classes for trainees: elementary, intermediate and advanced Chinese classes. Students will be assigned to suitable level classes after an entrance Chinese examination. Each class will be about 10-20 students.

c. Curriculum Arrangement: 
Required Courses: Intensive Reading, Spoken Language, Listening Comprehension, Composition, Reading, Listening and Speaking,
Elective Courses: Chinese Character Writing, Chinese Calligraphy, Chinese Painting, Martial Art, Introduction to China, and Technological Chinese

d. HSK Training class: In order for students to be better prepared for HSK exam, a regular HSK intensive training class is organized every semester.

e. Language Practice and Chinese Culture Learning Activities: The university provides all kinds of opportunities for students to practice Chinese and experience Chinese culture. Besides the elective courses mentioned above, activities also include but not limit to:
­Linguistic practice trips to scenic spots and places of historical sites around Beijing
­Gatherings and activities such as watching Peking opera and acrobatics, and appreciating traditional Chinese music and painting.
­Buddy Program: In order to help international students to adapt to life in China and to understand Chinese culture, each international student, upon request, can be paired with one Chinese volunteer student to form a one-to-one pair.

Short-Term Chinese Language Program

1. 2 weeks to 8 weeks
2. Group application of more than ten students will be regarded.
3. Arranged by requirement

Academic Year:
The academic year begins in early September each year.  There are two semesters for each year.

Admission Requirements:
Anyone who is interested in learning Chinese, experiencing Chinese culture and preparing for further specialties study in China is eligible for applying the Chinese Language Program.
Applicants should fill out following application form and Return the completed application form to International Office of BUCT by email, fax or in person..

Enrollment:
An Admission Notice and a Visa Application Form for Overseas Students (Form JW202) will be sent to each successful applicant. Overseas applicants can apply for an X visa (for International students) to China at their local Chinese Embassy or Consulate with the Admission Notice, passport, Form JW202 and Physical Test Records (originals) required. Each student should register at the International Office of BUCT bringing the originals of the above documents with them within the specified time. After arriving at BUCT, you need to apply for the residence permit within 30 days of entry.

Financial matters

Application fees: RMB 500 Yuan
Insurance Fee: RMB 600 Yuan per year
Tuition fees: RMB8250 Yuan for one semester, RMB7840 Yuan for the second semester

Accommodation:

Boarding Expenses: Students can eat on campus in the student dining halls, the monthly expenses are approximate RMB500 Yuan—RMB800 Yuan per person on average.
